Biofortification with Zinc and Iron for Eliminating Deficiency in Pakistan (BiZIFED2).
[DataSet]
Description
The data set pertains to BiZIFED2 randomised controlled trial (RCT) which was a household-based, double-blind, cluster-randomized controlled trial conducted in rural Pakistan. The primary focus of the BiZiFED2 RCT was to evaluate the impact of zinc-biofortified wheat flour consumption on biomarkers of zinc status, growth, and zinc-related morbidity in adolescent girls aged 10-16 year. As biofortified wheat was provided to the entire household in this study, children aged 1-5 years were included as a secondary population to assess potential spill over effects on their growth and morbidity. The study included 517 adolescence girls and 517 children from 486 households. The entire dataset consists of data for participating (1) Adolescent girls; (2) Children; (3) Household. The details of data are as follows :
Adolescent girls data includes: registration (general information) data for the participating adolescent girls collected at enrolment; haematological indices of micronutrient status for the participating adolescent girls collected at the beginning, middle and end of intervention phase; anthropometric measurement data for the participating adolescent girls collected at the beginning, middle and end of intervention phase; information on respiratory tract infection for the participating adolescent girls collected at every 2-week intervals; Pulmonary Function Test (Spirometry) data for participating adolescent girls conducted at the beginning, middle and end of intervention phase.
Data on children includes: registration (general information) data for the participating children aged collected at enrolment; anthropometric measurement data for the participating children collected at the beginning, middle and end of intervention phase; data on respiratory tract infection for the participating children collected at every 2-week intervals;
data on diarrhoeal morbidity for the participating children collected at every 2-week intervals
Household level data: This includes demographics of the household, living conditions (such as water source, kitchen, and toilet facilities etc), details related to wheat flour consumption and purchase practices etc at baseline
